Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby
Date: 11/03/2010
Time:
Tickets: Available at the door.
Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby for the first time in Ireland as a duo. Amy last played Cork in 2004 and it's Eric's first time back since the 1990s. They have individually been making distinctive and original music for decades: he a British iconoclast and wild-card survivor of the early Stiff Records, she as a long-standing heroine of the New York pop scene. For the last three years they have been touring in the US, UK and Europe. In 2008 the self-styled `two piece rock 'n' roll group' released their debut album "Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby", which enjoyed rapturous critical acclaim in the USA and has been the subject of a four star review in Mojo. They have also recently recorded a new double A side single, "Teflon Wok" c/w "Bobblehead Doll".
Sirocco + Corr Mhona (Early Show)
Date: 17/03/2010
Time:
Tickets: Available at the door
Formed in Co. Waterford in 2003 by Jim Tobin, Sirocco are a blend of thrashy rythms, beautiful lead guitar melodies, intricate drumming and pounding bass lines, interleaved with plenty of dual guitar harmonies, and old school heavy metal solos, combined to create a sound which they like to call "Celtic Thrash". Originally an instrumental band, bass player Ciaran O' Cearuill stepped up to the mic in early 2007 to finalize the line-up, and is audible on their most recent release "The March Through Crimson Frost", which is due for an official U.K. and Ireland release on April 7th, 2008, through Code7 Music.
Desecration
Date: 23/04/2010
Time:
Tickets: Available at the door.
Welsh death metal bastards Desecration have been causing mayhem and controversy with their brutal yet catchy sound since the mid-nineties. In 1995 copies of their ‘Gore and Perversion’ album were infamously seized and incinerated by the Gwent Constabulary for what they deemed to be its obscene nature. The ensuing court case and media furore firmly established the name Desecration in the South Wales scene and beyond. Not that this band were all media hype and no substance. No fuckin’ way!
Negura Bunget + Fen
Date: 01/05/2010
Time:
Tickets: Available at the door.
Negura Bunget is black fog rising from a never-ending deep dark forest. It's a symbolic name that somehow tries to picture the kind of musical and spiritual atmosphere we'd like to create through our music. The two words come from the oldest Romanian language substrate, symbolizing this way tradition and authenticity.
Gorath + Support
Date: 21/05/2010
Time:
Tickets: Available at the door
The early days only brought forth a worthless tape and finished off the ensemble for quite some years, until it was 2002: a new era and a fresh start resulting into some demo releases. All this led to an alliance with the American Black Owl Records bringing out Gorath's debut, entitled "Elite". In 2006 Gorath swapped label and signed to Descent Productions. "The Fourth Era" became a masterpiece in cosmological black metal, a concept solely based on Mayan science, history and foretold 2012 prophecies. From then on Gorath reformed from a one-man-project to a four piece band.
